Barb Fenwick
I had my first pony at
six years old, and now in my late 50's my horses are still my best friends and
my most important teachers. I have ridden, trained and owned several breeds of
horses, including gaited horses. Over the years I have studied traditional
and natural horsemanship from many sources. I have taught here at the ranch and
around Manitoba for several years as well as in Quebec, Saskatchewan and
Ontario.
Equine behaviour and
intuitive studies have been my emphasis over the last few years. I have
spent years training or retraining horses and learning what the horse thinks
and feels and how to apply that to helping horse and rider communicate and
enjoy each other more synergistically.
My Freedom With Horses is about helping you and your horse connect on all levels. Then
we go someplace and do things with that connection that allow you and your
horse to enjoy your time together. You
connect from the heart, lead with harmonic movements, softness and feeling.
Then ride in pleasure and joy, experiencing a new freedom.
Also in the last 6 years
I have studied and practiced natural Hoofcare with my horses. I offer my BF
Hoof Health courses which
incorporates barefoot hoofcare and learning how to
offer your horse a healthy, natural environment and lifestyle.
I continue to study the
ways of gentle horsemen and women, seeking always deeper knowledge of the body
and soul of the horse. Some of my most
important mentors are Klaus Hempfling, Carolyn Resnick, Mark Rashid and
Linda Kohanov.
They have helped shape
and confirm my ideas of being with horses. Learn about them on www.thepathofthehorse.com.
I share my life and our ranch with my husband George, our dog Patsy, a
cat named Elvis, and three horse
companions –Spirit my 12 year old
Spotted Tennessee Walking horse gelding, Zoie
Girl, 5 yr old Missouri Foxtrotter mare and Serena, my rescued paso fino 10 year old mare.
very
precocious filly who turns 2 this year. They are my constant teachers. We have
3 sons, 3 daughters in law & 2 incredible grandchildren - grandaughter Miya and grandson Cooper.
Our ranch, Seasons Ranch is host to guests year round who
come to learn, relax, trail ride and just BE.

This page is dedicated to a very special dog. JD, who is only with us in spirit now. He lived his 14 years as our friend, guardian, horse tail shortener and squirrel tormentor. He lived life fully, happily and was the smartest dog we have ever known. He left his old body in mid October, 2008. He wasn’t a good dog…he was a great dog and friend to so many that passed through our gates. We miss you JD but know you are here, in our hearts and minds and in the very air around us. Love Mom, Dad & Patsy
